Fillers are a great way to make the undereye area look brighter, plumper, and more youthful. They can even fade stubborn shadows to give you a well-rested appearance. But with all the different fillers out there, how do you know which one is best?
Dr. Shaun Patel prefers to use Restylane® when treating the undereyes. In his experience, it provides smooth and long-lasting results — without any of the issues that some other fillers can cause. Keep reading to learn more about receiving eye filler in Miami.
Pros And Cons Of Different Fillers For The Undereyes
Restylane is a great choice for correcting age-related volume loss under the eyes. Volume loss can create a shadow or dark circle in the tear-trough area. Restoring volume with a filler like Restylane provides a beautifully smooth and bright outcome.
Belotero Balance also works quite well under the eyes. However, the results are not as significant as with Restylane and certainly not as long-lasting. Dr. Patel finds that it’s easier to get a good result with Belotero Balance when treating the tear troughs, but in experienced hands, Restylane is more likely to give a better and longer-lasting result.
Juvéderm® is not a good filler for the undereyes. It can cause issues with chronic swelling and create the Tyndall effect. In aesthetics, the Tyndall effect is where certain dermal fillers appear blue under the skin due to superficial placement and light refraction.
Getting Good Results From Undereye Fillers
Choosing the right filler for the undereyes is key to getting a good result. However, it isn’t the only factor that will affect your outcome. Other factors include:
- Depth of filler placement. In general, Dr. Patel prefers placing the filler deep. It leads to a smoother result with less risk of Tyndall and visibility of filler.
- Use of a microcannula. Injecting the filler with a microcannula instead of a traditional needle minimizes swelling, bruising, and trauma to the delicate under eye skin. Dr. Patel also believes it improves the safety of the injection.
- Experience of the injector. Someone who does these treatments daily will deliver a better result than someone who only performs this type of treatment occasionally.
